Academy presentation features a look at 4 cases of retinal lesions

Posted on

Jessica Yuen, OD, of the Southern California College of Optometry, spoke with Optometry 360 about her recent presentation at the American Academy of Optometry 2025 Annual Meeting. She spoke about different cases of retinal lesions and how diagnostic features helped differentiate retinal pathologies.

Jessica Yuen, OD:

My name is Jessica Yuen. I work as an assistant professor at the Southern California College of Optometry with MBKU. We spoke on a lecture discussing 4 cases, all with a common finding of a retinal bump-like lesion. These cases really starting from more so the anterior and then moving posteriorly within the retina. Our cases highlighted a lot of the clinical evaluation, imaging interpretations and management strategies for conditions, including white dot syndromes, acquired vitelliform lesions, central serous chorioretinopathy, and also polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. Our lecture really hoped to emphasize a lot of those key diagnostic features that really helped it differentiate more so retinal pathologies from other great retinal or choroidal masqueraders.
