Contact Lenses

Month-long study highlights comfort performance of TOTAL30 lenses

Posted on

Lehfilcon A toric contact lenses (TOTAL30 for Astigmatism) provide consistent and predictable comfort throughout a month of wear, even during extended daily use, making them a suitable option for patients with minimal initial contact lens discomfort, according to a study.

The month-long, single-arm study enrolled 47 patients between the ages of 18 to 45 years with mild astigmatism (-0.75 D to -2.50 D) and minimal contact lens-related symptoms (CLDEQ-8 scores ≤12). Participants wore the lenses for up to 16 hours daily, from 8:00 AM to midnight, with comfort assessments collected via text messages.

Comfort remained consistent throughout the month of wear (P ≥ 0.82). However, comfort declined over the course of each wear day (P < 0.001). Despite this, most participants rated the lenses as comfortable, with only 1.8% reporting discomfort upon application and 8.5% experiencing discomfort after 16 hours of wear.
