Study highlights patient experiences with iCare HOME tonometer
The iCare HOME tonometer is a user-friendly and comfortable tool for at-home intraocular pressure monitoring, with most patients achieving proficiency by the third day and expressing a strong willingness to use the device for glaucoma management, according to a study.
The prospective cohort study included 19 patients with glaucoma or glaucoma suspect who used the tonometer for 1 week after receiving training. Patients were instructed to record IOP measurements multiple times daily and complete a survey and journal at the study’s end.
On average, participants measured IOP more than 4 times per day per eye. Most found the tonometer easy to use (75%), comfortable (94%), and felt proficient by the third day (94%). In addition, 88% of participants operated the device independently, and 94% expressed willingness to use the device in the future.
