David J. Felsted
Dr. Felsted is a cataract and refractive surgeon who lives in Northern Arizona. His interests include advanced cataract surgery, femtosecond laser cataract surgery, surgical correction of presbyopia and astigmatism, LASIK/PRK, and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery.
Dr. Felsted grew up across the United States and enjoys getting to know people from all walks of life. His most memorable experience was living in Cape Town, South Africa, working with people in extreme conditions of poverty. Dr. Felsted graduated from the Marriott School of Management with a B.S. in Accounting (Ranked #2 by US News and World Report). He then went on to graduate medical school at Midwestern University/Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona, where he was elected into Sigma Sigma Phi National Honors Fraternity in his first year of medical training.
Dr. Felsted completed a one-year transitional medicine residency at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, and an ophthalmic surgical residency at Augusta University Health/Medical College of Georgia. He served as a lecturer to both Medical and PA students on eye pathology and served as a chief resident in his final year. Throughout his training, Dr. Felsted has published articles on micro-invasive glaucoma devices, ophthalmic pathology, intraoperative surgical devices, and medical lifestyle.
He devotes considerable time to mentorship within the field. Dr. Felsted regularly speaks on a podcast with several ophthalmic thought leaders entitled “Ophthalmology Off the Grid,” where they discuss the future of eye surgery and insights into the field.
In his free time, he enjoys the great outdoors with his wife and children. They spend time biking in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. He also avidly commutes to work on his road bike to reduce his carbon footprint. He is passionate about patient care, mentorship, excellent outcomes.
