Jeffrey C. Michaels

Dr. Jeffrey Michaels is best known for his #AskAOA webinar series of PPP and other assistance webinars that helped optometrists obtain over $2 billion in federal relief to blunt the impact of the COVID-19 economic crisis. He has lectured internationally over the past 20 years on a range of topics including anterior and posterior ocular diseases, Medicare payment reform and practice management. His current passions are IPL/RF for dry eyes and aesthetics, in-office lasers and myopia management.

Dr. Michaels graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry and is fellowship trained from Johns Hopkins University. He is co-owner of a 6-doctor group practice in Glen Allen, Virginia.

Dr. Michaels was the AOA Optometrist of the Year in 2022. He was twice honored as the Virginia Optometrist of the Year, Virginia Distinguished Service Award and AOA President’s Award. He is on the list of America’s Best Eye Doctors by Newsweek.

Dr. Michaels is an invited speaker to optometry state associations trying to achieve scope expansion by providing advocacy and testimony preparation. In his free-time he teaches Mental Performance Training to college, high school and high-level travel sports teams.
