Shivani Sharma

OD

Dr. Shivani Sharma, O.D. is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up in Cupertino, CA. She attended the University of California, Irvine where she studied biological sciences. During this time, she participated in glaucoma research at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at UC Irvine, School of Medicine. In 2013, Dr. Sharma spent time in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with Global Medical Brigades to provide comprehensive health services alongside local physicians for the rural community of El Coyolito.

She then went on to receive her doctorate of Optometry at UC Berkeley, School of Optometry. Her contributions to the field of vision research continued at UC Berkeley, School of Vision Science and later at the Francis I Proctor Foundation at UCSF. During her clinical externships, Dr. Sharma received extensive clinical training with emphasis in the management of ocular disease at the Veterans Affairs Hospitals in Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and the Meredith Morgan Eye Center at UC Berkeley. She graduated with honors from Beta Sigma Kappa, an international Optometric honor society. Following the completion of her optometry degree, she completed a residency in primary eye care/ocular disease at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. During her residency, Dr. Sharma provided specialty contact lens care, low vision, and nursing home services in addition to primary eye care to the U.S. veterans of the Greater Los Angeles area. She also published her clinical case report on Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency in the Journal of Clinical and Refractive Optometry for online continuing education. With her residency background and experience in the field of Ophthalmology, she is devoted to delivering comprehensive routine and medical eye care to the San Francisco community.

Dr. Sharma is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and an active member of the California Optometric Association (COA). She aims to provide the highest quality of eye care and strives to improve the vision and lives of all of her patients.
