Weekly toric lenses maintain satisfaction after switch from biweekly wear

Posted on

Satisfied wearers of biweekly toric contact lenses can be successfully refit into a weekly replacement lens while maintaining overall comfort, vision quality, and satisfaction based on patient-reported outcomes in a small prospective study.

The study enrolled 47 asymptomatic adult contact lens who were already satisfied with senofilcon A lenses. After confirming baseline fit and satisfaction, participants underwent a 1-week washout period before being refit with serafilcon A lenses for 2 weeks.

At follow-up, 81% of participants wearing the weekly lenses reported asymptomatic scores on the CLDEQ-8. Patient-reported outcomes showed mean visual analog scale scores of 72.1 for end-of-day comfort, 63.6 for dryness, and 79.6 for clarity of vision. Quality-of-life measures were also favorable, with mean scores exceeding 95 across daily activities, emotional well-being, and work domains.

Overall, 65.8% of participants reported satisfaction with the weekly lenses after the switch.
