This editorial presents the views and experiences of the author and does not reflect the opinions or recommendations of the publisher of Optometry 360.

Gina Wesley, OD, of Complete Eye Care of Medina, spoke with Optometry 360 about a new eye drop for dry eye disease.

Blink Nourish and Blink Boost lubricating eye drops recently launched in the United States. What are some unique features of each product?
Blink Boost and Blink Nourish eye drops are designed to help relieve dry, irritated eyes and have been shown to provide relief of dry eyes for up to 10 hours.* Both products are preservative-free, contact lens-friendly, and packaged in convenient multi-dose bottles for easy use.

Blink Nourish is the first and only vitamin-enriched, preservative-free eye drop that delivers advanced lubricating benefits to hydrate dry eyes. Formulated with a blend of nutrients with vitamins B12 and C, magnesium, hyaluronic acid, and trehalose, Blink Nourish replenishes nutrients to the tear film and helps rebalance tears.

Blink Boost is designed to closely match the natural pH of healthy tears, providing relief from general eye dryness and irritation. It contains naturally inspired ingredients, including hyaluronan and an antioxidant that protects it from free radicals, helping maintain moisture on the ocular surface.

Which patients might be best suited for these products?
Blink Nourish is best suited for patients with eye sensitivities who may benefit from replenishing nutrients to the tear film and restoring tear balance. Blink Boost is ideal for individuals experiencing general eye dryness, irritation, or discomfort.

Both products are especially appropriate for patients who require preservative-free options. They are also compatible with soft contact lenses, making them a convenient choice for contact lens wearers in need of dry eye relief.

How would you describe these products to your patients, and how would you counsel them on their use?
I would describe these products as 2 excellent new additions to the Blink eye drop family. These work particularly well for patients who have sensitivities or wear contact lenses, as they’re both preservative-free. Blink Nourish is vitamin-infused and designed to rebalance and replenish tears for long-lasting comfort, while Blink Boost is a pH-balanced formula designed to match a patient’s natural tears, providing a comfortable feeling upon application, as it contains components found in healthy tears.

I would advise that these drops are safe for regular use to provide hydration and relief from your dry eye symptoms. You can apply them as often as needed throughout your day.

What do you think other optometrists should know about these products?
Other optometrists should be aware that these are new additions to the dry eye market, offering multi-dose, preservative-free options from the Blink brand, which directly addresses a common patient need for sensitive eyes and soft contact lens wearers. Both formulations are designed to deliver up to 10 hours of relief.*

Furthermore, their widespread availability at major U.S. national retailers makes them accessible for patient recommendations. Ultimately, they provide valuable new tools for optometrists to recommend to patients seeking not just hydration, but also products that promote overall ocular surface health.

*In-home use test, conducted in May 2025. Patients with mild to moderate dry eyes instilled 1 drop per eye and then responded to 4 after-use surveys at different time points post-instillation. At 10 hours, over 80% of patients reported that their dry eye symptoms felt relieved with Blink Nourish (n=428) or Blink Boost (n=488) eye drops.

Gina Wesley, OD, received her bachelor’s degree at the College of Saint Benedict.
